Nate and I just had a little weekend getaway. We flew down to Kansas City, MO. We attended a Dave Ramsey Live event (if you haven't heard of him, he's a financial speaker/radio host) and got to spend a little time with just the two of us. Seems like we always have an adventure when we fly stand-by. The flight down went perfectly, but after spending over 4 hours at the airport yesterday waiting for open seats, we were finally just about to get on a flight and then a fire alarm went off in the terminal and the entire airport had to be evacuated. Of course there was no fire, but as you can imagine it was very chaotic! And since everyone had to exit the airport, once they determined it was safe to go back in, everyone had to go back through security. What an absolute mess!
Anyway, while we were gone Claire got to have a "sleep-over party" at Grandma and Grandpa K's. I dropped her off Friday evening and we picked her up Sunday afternoon. It was the longest I've ever left her. In fact it was our first nights apart. 2 1/2 years...yeah I know, about time right?! Based on the fact that Grandma said she never asked for us once, didn't want to talk to us on the phone when we called, and yelled that she wanted to stay at Grandma's when we were getting ready to go home yesterday...I think she must have had a good time! Grandma said everything went well, with the exception of sleeping or more specifically the lack of sleeping (No naps and being a little stinker about falling asleep at night.) But she did offer to take Claire again anytime, so it must not have been too bad!
It was a nice little trip. I didn't miss her nearly as much as I thought I would (does that sound bad?!) And gosh, it's soooo much easier traveling without a kid! Before I know it, I'm going to have another nursing baby that I won't be able to leave overnight, so I'm glad we were able to get away.

I'm glad you enjoyed a weekend away! I've only left Lucy once (when I had the flu)...I should send her to Grandma's for a night again soon too :) Our girls are lucky to have wonderful grandparents!
How fun! Except for the whole "fire" evacuation!
Again, we are on the same schedule--jon and i are going away alone this weekend :)
