O Christmas Tree
Last Saturday we went Christmas tree hunting. It wasn't snowing when we left town, but by the time we got to the tree farm it was coming down pretty hard. I didn't even bring boots for the girls because there wasn't any snow on the ground when we left. We found our perfect tree and were on our way. Normally this tree farm has horse-drawn wagon rides with Santa, but apparently Santa doesn't like the snow and he left early that day! It was probably for the best though. Claire has been so skeptical and questioning this year about Santa that I wouldn't want to visit him too many times (and last year the tree farm's Santa was a skinny 20-something--not too convincing!) The drive home from the tree farm wasn't fun. Terrible traffic, unplowed roads, cars in the ditch everywhere. A few ambulances and a couple accidents that looked pretty serious. The 40 min drive took 2 hours.
Yesterday was Claire's Christmas party at preschool. At the end they do a little Christmas story re-enactment. Claire had her heart set on being Mary, but she didn't get picked. She volunteered to be a shepherd instead. (Other than wanting to be Mary, her only request was that she didn't want to be an angel like last year and she didn't want to be the bad guy (King Herod.) So she was happy being a shepherd. A few of the preschool kids didn't want to participate, so Grace got to go up and be an angel. She was so cute! She's not as outgoing as Claire, so I'm proud of her for not even hesitating about doing it. A couple of the teachers commented to me today that Grace is really coming into her own and not just Claire's shadow anymore. I didn't bring my camera, I only had my phone so this is the only picture I got. (Claire's the shepherd in the front and Grace is the red angel in the back.)
