So Grace started dance class this morning. And you may not believe it, but it wasn't even my idea! I was fine with her waiting until the fall to start. But as I was helping Claire get ready for her dance class on Wednesday, Nate asked when Grace would be able to start. The age they allow you to enroll is 2 1/2 and as of Jan. 2, Grace is officially 2 1/2. Nate was excited and told me to look into it. So I talked to the teacher (the fabulous preschool teacher is finally back from maternity leave..yay!) about whether Grace could start in the middle of the year and she said Grace could try it for a couple weeks and she would let us know how Grace is doing and then we could decide if we want to commit to the rest of the year (including recital, etc.)
To say Grace was excited would be an understatement. She slept with either tap or ballet shoes on for 2 nights in a row and we had multiple battles over wearing her leotard all day long. Today was the day, and there was no hesitation at all. We got there and she was the one hurrying me, "Come on mama, let's hurry!" "Help me with my shoes!" "I don't wanna be late!" I introduced her to Miss Heather and she just ran into the room without even a goodbye to me. She's obviously the youngest (though definitely not the smallest) in class and all the other girls have already had 3 months of experience, but she did really well. She listened well, followed directions, and attempted to do everything. I was impressed and proud of her! I briefly talked to Miss Heather after class, and she also said Grace did really well. And most importantly, Grace had "great fun!"
